I found this useful, even though I am not a Writer.
I found your blog through a Twitter connection (Chuck Frey), around MindMapping.

Hi Michelle,

Great article! I love that your combining the goal mindmap template, and a personal dashboard. I wasn't aware of the personal organizer template. This definitely looks useful.

P.S. Please feel free to link to my original article on the goals mind map:

Best of luck, and have a great 2009!

Great list! The thought of counting a blog as writing everyday got me thinking... I always complain that I need to write more fiction instead of devoting so much time to the blogging. But I don't know if I would count the blogging as "writing." It uses totally different parts of my brain and what I write about is also totally different. But others have made the point that writing is writing. I'm not sold on it.

I loved your 2008 recap! In August of this year I was determined to get serious about writing too. I write here and there and have taken some community school writing classes as a start. I can't afford the online classes right now, but hopefully I can in 2009. I am currently reading "The Artist Way" by Julia Cameron. I started two blogs: www.thewritertoday.blogspot.com and www.justtowrite.com. I am dedicating more time to this craft and maybe I can write a romantic suspense novel one day. I love your blog!

I'm 47 going on 48, and I don't consider myself middle-aged. Part of me is still angst-ridden, idiotic teenager. You are middle-aged if you think you are.

I'm also trying to write a novel. A horror novel. A horror novel about vampires. How loaded with cliches is that?

By the way, stop by my blog if you get a chance. I would love to know what you think.

Thank you for the cyber-nod, Michelle. I more or less agree with you about writer's block, and while I think that it is slightly different to the concept of a muse, some of the principles do overlap.

If you're struggling to write, there's very often a logical reason for it. And that could be anything.

I believe that as long as we are honest with ourselves, we should be able to distinguish between occasions when we're genuinely struggling with an idea (writer's block), and when we're unable to find the idea in the first place (and then blaming a mythical creature for it!).
