2009 Goals Planned in a Dashboard Mind Map

Today I spent a fruitful day planning out all my writing and other resolutions into some 2009 goals and objectives, and setting them into a series of mindmaps. Together they make up a Life Dashboard MindMap.
For 2009 I have several personal goals, some large family tasks (such as adopting another child into the family), [...]

The Components of a Writing Business Plan

Firstly, I’m not a business plan writer by any way, shape or form. I used to work in I.T. and was a very good writer of Test Plans and Strategies, of juggling budgets (which weren’t really mine) with bodies, and facilitating a compromise over the overall business product sales goals with the time given to [...]

Literary Rejection On Display

I like this blog - Literary Rejection on Display. That’s because I like humour, and I like to think that when it comes time for me to amalgamate six years and 100s of rejection letters, then I’m not alone out there.
In fact, I’m going to do what some famous authors have done before me. [...]

New Levels of MindMapping Writeability

I’ve recently provided some articles on how I am currently using Mindjet MindManager Pro 7 for my writing project. However, MindManager has just had an upgrade to Version 8, with a whole swathe of new functionality which looks interesting from a writer’s viewpoint.

Ah, for Pete’s Sake!

If you wanna be a writer, just write, right? Good advice, but not given by anyone who has tried to do it while their six year old daughter is dancing around the living room in sparkly high heels, showing the family dog her tap-dancing routine.
‘You don’t do tap dancing,’ I pointed out hopefully.
‘YOU DON’T DO [...]

Stage 3 of Preparing for a Novel - MindMapping and Ready-to-Go

Now that I have completed my initial Mindmaps and outline using Scenes within the Writer’s Block software, I have today returned to working with MindMaps and setting up more in readiness for the novel writing to commence. Here is some of my work of today, with some description. I have created several new mindmaps, including [...]

Stage 2 of Preparing for a Novel

This is the follow-up to my own MindMapping to Prepare for a Novel article posted a week ago.  In that article I introduced you to my concept (with The Sentence) for my NaNoWriMo novel, The Pod Novel II (a working title only) and to some work I did in initiating some ideas using a mindmap [...]

MindMapping to Prepare for a Novel

Having come up with an initial idea for a potential novel for my NaNoWriMo efforts, for the last few weeks I’ve sat floundered, unable to find the motivation to delve into the novel and develop it in preparation for the actual writing effort. Last night I turned to a tool which helped me refind the [...]

20 Minutes Freeform, and the Things You Suddenly Realise

For several months now I’ve been using Liquid Story Binder, by Black Obelisk Software, to write and keep research content within. All my ideas and research notes are kept in this piece of software also. In fact, LSB is the program which holds my very first novel within it - written in April of [...]

I’m a Writer, Not a Talker!

The Blog Mastermind program has asked me for a few weeks to record an insert (a podcast) to put up here on the Juiced on Writing blog. If you have been anywhere on the net, you’ll know how popular a method this is in communicating with an audience. I don’t dispute this at all.
However, I [...]
