A first-time author, a virtual unknown, can have his book rapidly climb to the top of just about every best-seller list. But that’s what Timothy Ferriss of The 4-Hour Workweek did in 2007, and the way he did it was just as remarkable as what he achieved.

authonomy is a website from HarperCollins which promises some interesting dynamics. Part social network, part self-publishing (on the net), the site is setup to let authors publish their manuscripts onto the web, and have these rated by, commented on and read by the authonomy community.
Top rated or supported books are promised that in the future HarperCollins wants to look at these for possible publishing. The site also contains top ranked books on the frontpage, and an active forum.

You mentioned my 3D mind mapping software (3D Topicscape). Thanks.
The free trial period is 30 days not 20, but much more importantly, you say it is “quite expensive”. That’s a judgement call and you are entitled to that opinion, of course, but did you know there’s a totally free version which certainly can’t be regaded as expensive?
That’s free as in “forever”, not just for the 30 day trial as the paid versions are.
It’s the Student Edition, and it is available here:
http://www.topicscape.com/student-edition.php
It can even import and export FreeMind 2D mind maps, so you can switch in and out of 3D.
There is a comparison of features of all three versions on the web(linked to from the front page of the site).
