Published author and former owner of Absolute Write, the online writer’s resource, Jenna has a free ebook hidden away on her personal blog. 60 pages of advice for new authors, this one is a little jem.
2. Internet Business Blueprint
The Writer’s Manifesto has this free ebook, giving a little information on setting up a website for yourself.
3. The Lousy Writer’s Guide to Writing Persuasively
The Lousy Writer website offers this free ebook. The download will link you through to Scribd to download the book from there.
4. The Newbie’s Guide to Publishing a Book – JA Konrath
This ebook is huge – over 750 pages long. It’s a compilation of the tips and hints from a similar named blog published in 2005. From everything from first starting writing, to promotions of your book, and dealing with family and rejection.
5. Short Story Writing – Charles Raymond Barrett (via Project Gutenberg)
Project Gutenberg offers this free text. It’s available in Plucker, HTML and plain text formats. It’s out of copywrite in the United States, being last published in 1900.
6. NaNo for the New and Insane – Lazette Gifford
Lazette Gifford has been offering this 130 page free ebook from her website for several years now. Dedicated to NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) which kicks off November each year, this book introduces those new to the NaNo experience, and also deals with other writing focussed topics, such as an introduction to writing forums such as Lazette’s own Forward Motion boards. Tips are also given for preparing and sustaining efforts during the NaNoWriMo event, and there is an interview with NaNoWriMo founder, Chris Baty.
