Other Writer's Lives

The Guardian UK has an interesting series online, featuring photographs of writers’ rooms. The series includes authors such as Roald Dahl (who famously writes in his back garden shed), George Bernard Shaw and Rudyard Kipling, along with many others.

One of our UK Writing Magazines also has the final page of each edition dedicated to showing us a photograph of a writer’s room.

What is it about a genuine writer’s room which is so fascinating to other writers? What are we looking for, in staring at the mess or order of somebody else’s office or desk? What is it we are seeing in ourselves also?
