This is a simple picturial album of Friday’s Storyquest which I participated in all day. Held within Second Life, over the whole day, writers were invited to select from five genres and pursue a storyquest through various places in Second Life, arriving at Kahuna, the new Aids island, to finish off and submit their short stories. For more details on the objective of this Storyquest, please see my previous entry.
From the initial cards I chose the murder mystery genre, but have kept all the other genre cards as these include some worthwhile links to Second Life places I want to visit and explore. I took photos along the way of my own storyquest, and yes – I did write and submit a murder mystery to boot. I also discovered some significant and beautiful places in Second Life, and picked up some free books to read also. I met several other writers on the quest, and several other people on the SIMs wondering why so many others were going around talking about some kind of quest.
This was an incredible event in my own writing life, and in my life on Second Life. I would like to thank the Storyquest event organisers and hope I can have the opportunity to participate in something like this again, soon. And to top it off, this was my first ever short story project. The quality is questionable, but I certainly noticed the setting influences coming through into my storyline, as I went about my own personal story quest. And now for the photo album…
Stop 1 and 2 took me to discover a body. By Stop 2, at Story Mountain, I was impressed by the gore, as I found the actual body laid out before me. But who’s body was it?
Stop 3 took me to explore MacBeth. I spent a frightening two hours exploring this barren setting, fell down pits, and got lost fighting MacBethian ghosts with a flashing dagger in a bloody pit.
The last stop on the Mystery tour took me to Tempura Island, so far my most favourite place to be. I re-visit Tempura daily, to do the tai-chi dance, and find a private place to sit and ponder my writing. This is an absolutely romantic and positive spirtual place.
